Munching traditional Love stories like Heer-Ranjha or Romeo-Juliet, its time to look back in history when Jamnagar witnessed one of the most loved Love-story of all, Hothal Padmini and Odho Jam.
Odho Jam, a warrior from Jamnagar was happily married man but was in eyes of his sister-in-law.
She tried all to seduce this noble man, in vein she accused Odho of misconduct of character and Odho was thrown out of Jamnagar.
It is believed that Odho Jam meet Hothal Padmini (Apsara) somewhere in Kutch, and fell in love at her first sight. When Jam confessed his love to Hothal, she disclosed her true identity as a Padmini (Heavenly beauty).
Odho was madly in love, heart-broken from his family he won't listen. Later Hothal agreed on a condition that no one should reveal the secret of her true identity, on which Odho agreed and both married.
Years later Odho Jam had to break this promise when the couple's brave children killed a full grown lion, and community praised them but also became suspicious. Odho reveals his wife's identity when the entire community praised them and wanted to know their mother's identity.
Hearing this, Hothal leaves him forever, deep in love with Hothal, Odho also dies.
A fort called Maniyaro Gadh can still be visited in Abadasa (Kutch) this fort was build by Odho Jam.
