Besna of a Tree venue Lakhota Lake

A very human form of protest was carried out by around 3,000 nature lovers of Jamnagar.

They gathered at Lakhota Lake to attend the 'besna' of trees being uprooted by city's Municipal Corporation (JMC). Nature Lovers accused the JMC for cutting trees in the name of lake beautification work.

Many has concerns that this cutting of trees near lake, which is also home to many migratory birds may do exactly opposite to what JMC wants to do.

Lakhota Nature Club counted around seven trees near Lakhota Lake. some of whom were more than 90 years old. Nature lovers are putting up banners exhibiting different trees to create awareness among the citizens.

Local Congress MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja joined the protest and attended the 'besna' of trees.
